When you’re running a company, having an email domain that is directly connected to your organization matters. However, as with various tech services, many small businesses worry about the cost of adding this capability. Fortunately, it’s possible to get a free email domain for your business. Here’s how.

Why Would You Need a Free Email Domain?

Having a free email domain for your company is beneficial for several reasons. With a business-related email domain, you’re ensuring the portion of your email address after the @ is specific to your organization. That can give your company credibility and add professionalism, both of which work in your favor. If you’re among the 33.2 million small businesses in the U.S., the email domain can set you apart from companies that rely on free options like Gmail, too.

With a business email domain, you can also separate your personal and business-related messaging activities. In some cases, this is helpful if there are issues of company liability. While having the right business structure is an essential part of that equation, the separate email domain creates a clear line between your personal and professional communication, and that can make a difference.

Where to Get a Free Email Domain

Bluehost

By purchasing a web hosting plan from Bluehost, you can get a custom domain with a corresponding email domain as part of the package. Typically, the website domain name is free for a year, and the pricing for the packages can be surprisingly affordable. You can maintain access to the connected email service as long as you keep your hosting with the company, too.

One benefit here is that you can connect your business domain email account to many other popular services, including Outlook and Gmail. That allows you to use inboxes you may turn to regularly instead of having to log into the Bluehost webmail option to deal with messages.

Zoho Mail

Zoho Mail lets you set up an email domain for free, though you’ll need a matching domain name to use the service. The benefit is that there’s an option that’s free forever. You can have up to five users, store up to 5GB of data, and can have attachments as large as 25MB. If you need more than that, the paid programs are reasonably accessible.

With this, you can purchase a domain name through Zoho Mail if you don’t have one currently, too. The price is relatively low, and this gives you a domain you can use on a correlating website, making it a solid choice for new businesses looking to establish or expand an online presence with a dedicated website.

Mail.com

For a completely free email domain, Mail.com is a solid option. You can’t create a fully custom domain, so it may be harder to connect the domain to your company’s name, but it does have over 100 options available.

Many of them work pretty well for freelancers or contractors, as some of the domains connect to specific professions or areas of expertise. Just be aware that checking the email box requires you to sign in to your account through the website, as there isn’t an option to send and receive through other platforms like Outlook or Gmail.

HostGator

HostGator is a web-hosting service that also supports email domains that feature the same domain as the website you’re having it host. You can set up the associated email accounts through the cPanel in the Email section.

Then, you need to set up an email client to manage the messages. For HostGator, you can use Google Workspace if the tools provide enough value for the subscription. However, you can also use other options as described on the HostGator website.
